ELISE SWEENEY ANTHONY, JD

ACTING DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF POLICY AT ONC, HHS
Elise leads ONC’s engagement on a range of high-priority federal policy efforts, including regulatory development, information blocking, and MACRA implementation. Her portfolio also includes emerging issues and health IT policy matters impacting EHR Incentive Program participants and other care settings. Elise is an experienced health policy attorney and advisor, and spent many years at a leading law firm where she spearheaded a variety of health improvement initiatives. She has led initiatives across the policy landscape, including with Congress, the United Nations, and the World Health Organization. Elise received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

BASTIAAN “BAS” BLOEM MD, PhD

MEDICAL DIRECTOR, PARKINSON CENTER NIJMEGEN (PARC); DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY, RADBOUD UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER, NIJMEGEN, THE NETHERLANDS
In 2002, Prof. Bloem became Medical Director of the Parkinson Centre Nijmegen, which was recognized in 2005 as a National Parkinson Foundation center of excellence. Together with Dr. Marten Munneke, he developed the national ParkinsonNet concept, which received an award for the best healthcare innovation in the Netherlands, and was awarded with the prestigious Value Based Care Award in 2015. Prof. Bloem is the past-President of the International Society for Gait and Postural Research, is member of the IEC of the Movement Disorders Society, and serves on the editorial board for several national and international journals. Dr. Bloem has published over 500 scientific papers and book chapters.

CYNTHIA BOYD MD, MPH

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE, JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
An internist, geriatrician, and epidemiologist, Dr. Boyd’s research interests include the clinical care of chronically ill and frail older adults, particularly regarding patient-centered care for people with multiple chronic conditions. Dr. Boyd is involved in the development and evaluation of Guided Care, a primary healthcare program infused with the principles of the Chronic Care Model to optimize outcomes for older patients with multiple chronic conditions. She received the American Geriatrics Society’s Award for Outstanding Clinical Investigation in 2010 for her body of work.

Tom DeRosa is CEO of Welltower Inc. (NYSE: HCN), an S&P 500 company. Under his leadership, the company has grown into the global leader in health care real estate with a broad, diversified portfolio across the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Together with its operating partners, the company is connecting health care delivery providers and properties to create more healthful environments for an aging population and to drive efficiencies in healthcare delivery. Mr. DeRosa is a governor of the World Economic Forum and serves on the Board of Argentum, the largest senior living association in the US.

Christina Farr is a San Francisco-based journalist specializing in health and technology. Before joining Fast Company, Christina worked as a reporter for VentureBeat, Reuters and KQED. Her byline has also appeared in USAToday, The Telegraph, NPR, Washington Post and Mashable. Christina was recently awarded “Reporter of the Year” in Rock Health’s Top 50 in Digital Health.

Damian Gilbert is the CEO of TouchCare, a company that created a mobile health application that connects providers with their patients via scheduled, video calls. TouchCare’s platform connects patients with their providers, whom they know and trust, a design that supports existing relationships and enhance continuity of care.

JENNIFER HAJJ, MBA

Since joining Sachs Policy Group (SPG) in 2006, Ms. Hajj has specialized in New York State (NYS) policy, strategy, and analysis. Through her work at SPG, Ms. Hajj consults with a diverse set of clients including hospitals, nursing homes, health and human service agencies, health plans, labor unions, and technology companies. Since 2013, Ms. Hajj has also led the firm’s expansion to health care technology and innovation. She actively advises and mentors several health care startups and innovators. Her expertise includes market dynamics, business development, partnerships, product development, regulatory environments, and public policy. Ms. Hajj received her M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Karen Ignagni serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of EmblemHealth, a New York City-based not-for-profit health insurance company. EmblemHealth is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health plans, serving 3.1 million people who live and work across the New York tristate area. Prior to joining EmblemHealth in September 2015, Ignagni was President and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) where she was active in working with the White House and congressional leadership on the development of health reform legislation, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Previously, Ms. Ignagni directed the AFL-CIO’s Department of Employee Benefits and worked as a Congressional staffer.

Walter Jin has over 20 years of investment and operational experience in the healthcare sector with a track record of successfully investing over $4 billion across more than 30 portfolio companies with virtually no losses. Mr. Jin is the co-founder of Three Fields Capital and Pacific Healthcare Management, which act as the investment company and operating company that manages a portfolio of private equity and venture capital healthcare investments. Previously, Mr. Jin was the co-founder of the healthcare group at The Carlyle Group, a healthcare portfolio manager at SAC Capital and an investment banker at Salomon Brothers. Mr. Jin is a graduate of Harvard University and currently serves as an Executive in Residence at Johns Hopkins Medicine and an Innovation Fellows Technical Advisor to the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Clay Johnston, inaugural Dean of the Dell Medical School, has an ambitious vision to build a world-class school by creating a vital, inclusive health ecosystem supporting new and innovative models of education, health care delivery and discovery. Clay is also a neurologist specializing in stroke care and research and previously served at UCSF as Associate Vice Chancellor of Research and founding director of the Center for Healthcare Value. He is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and received a PhD in epidemiology from UC Berkeley.

Stephen Johnston MBA is co-founder of Aging2.0 a global innovation platform for aging and senior care, and of the Innovation Leaders Fund, a global equity fund focused on innovation. He is co-author of Growth Champions (Wiley, 2012), a book about sustainable corporate growth. Stephen serves on the board of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), and Music and Memory, 501c3 nonprofits focused on improving the quality of life for older people. He has an MA in Economics from Cambridge University and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He lives in San Francisco, CA.

STEVEN LANDERS MD, MPH

Dr. Landers is President and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, the nation’s second largest not-for-profit home healthcare organization. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Alliance for Home Health Quality and Innovation and several other boards including Partnership for Quality Home Health Care, Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), and Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA). Dr. Landers has authored several articles on the role of home care in national publications including The New England Journal of Medicine and The Journal of the American Medicine.

Shelley Lyford is president and CEO of the Gary and Mary West Foundation and West Health, which are advancing innovative healthcare delivery models that enable seniors to age successfully. Lyford chairs the board of directors for the Gary and Mary West Senior Dental Center and serves on the Executive Committee of Grantmakers in Aging. Previously, she served as a director at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Joan Kroc Institute at the University of San Diego.

Mr. McInerney joined Genworth in January 2013 from the Boston Consulting Group, where he had served as Senior Advisor since June 2011, providing consulting and advisory services to leading insurance and financial services companies in the United States and Canada. Prior to that, Mr. McInerney spent 30 years working with ING Groep NV and Aetna Inc. For many years, he has been active with the American Council of Life Insurers and the Financial Services Roundtable, serving on each association’s board and Chief Executive Officer Committee.

Over the last 7 years at frog, Drew has led numerous projects to bring together the physical and digital worlds to create dynamic and thoughtful user experiences. The products and solutions he delivers strengthen the user’s relationships with both their physical surroundings and the people closest to them through new experiences and innovative uses of technology. Drew has developed ecosystems for Healthcare, the Connected Home, Customer Service and Support, Entertainment Media, Hospitality, and E-Commerce for clients such as Merck, Honeywell, Disney, and AT&T. Drew has Master’s Degrees in Architecture from both MIT and the Savannah College of Art and Design.

A senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, Mr. Rauch is the author of six books and numerous articles on public policy, culture, and government. He is a contributing editor of National Journal and The Atlantic, which published his 2013article “The Hospital Is No Place for the Elderly: Medical treatment for aging,chronically ill patients is costly and often ineffective. Can they get better care at home?” Mr. Rauch is the recipient of several awards including the 2005 NationaL Magazine Award, the magazine industry’s equivalent of the Pulitzer.

Roy is co-founder and CEO at American Well where he introduced the patented service brokerage technology that powers the nation’s largest Telehealth network. In 2013, Roy was appointed to the US Federation of Medical Board’s task force delivering landmark guidelines for the “Appropriate use of Telehealth in Medical Practice”. Roy serves on the board of the American Telemedicine Association and received their 2014 award for leadership. He is an avid author and speaker in the areas of healthcare technology and national Health IT policy. Roy holds an MD from Hebrew University and an MPH from Harvard.

Paula Span has written her column on aging and caregiving – the “New Old Age” – for The New York Times since 2009. Her book, “When the Time Comes: Families With Aging Parents Share Their Struggles and Solutions,” was published the same year. A long-time staff writer for the Washington Post and a freelance contributor to many magazines and newspapers, Span has helped train the next generation of journalists at Columbia University since 1999. She gives talks about aging and caregiving nationally and has begun publishing interviews as part of Amazon’s Kindle Singles Interview program.

Seth Sternberg is a Co-founder and CEO of Honor, a tech-based service that transforms non- medical in-home care for the aging. Prior to Honor, Seth co-founded Meebo, serving as CEO until it was sold to Google in 2012, where he served as Product Director for the Google+ Platform.

Stephanie is founder and CEO of Vida, a next-generation mobile continuous care platform for preventive health and chronic health conditions. Prior to Vida, Tilenius was with KPCB, where she worked primarily with late-stage portfolio companies including Nextdoor and MyFitnessPal. Prior to KPCB, Stephanie was vice president of global commerce and payments at Google, helping build and launch new products and platforms. Prior to joining Google, she was at eBay and PayPal for nine years, and in her last role was SVP of eBay.com. A co-founder of PlanetRx.com, she has also worked at Intel, AOL and Firefly, and holds an MBA from Harvard.

Prior to joining Doctor On Demand, Ian had multiple medical leadership roles including Founder and Medical Director of THRIVE (The Health Resource Initiative for Veterans Everywhere) and Co-Medical Director of the Arbor Free Clinic.Ian earned a medical degree from The University of Chicago-Pritzker and is board certified in Internal Medicine. He completed residency and Chief residency at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Ian was a three-time National Collegiate Champion in Rugby at the University of California at Berkeley and was named to the All American Team in 1994.

Prior to Grand Rounds, Owen co-founded Reputation.com and grew the company into the worldwide leader in online reputation and privacy management; he also held leadership positions at eBay and Accenture (Health and Life Sciences Practice). Owen received a BA with honors from Trinity College and received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He was recently named a Global Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.

As AARP’s chief public policy officer, Debra Whitman leads policy development, analysis, research, and global thought leadership to advance the interests of individuals 50-plus and their families. She oversees AARP’s Public Policy Institute, Research Center, Office of Policy Development and Integration, Thought Leadership, and AARP International. An economist, she is an authority on aging issues and has extensive experience in national policymaking and domestic and international research. Dr. Whitman holds master’s and doctorate degrees in economics from Syracuse University and a bachelor’s in economics, math and Italian from Gonzaga University.
